Marble or Granite ?

15 Oct 2014

Marbles are composed of calcium carbonate while granites have a majority of silicon oxide (that is why they are often called silicates) .

Due to the different physical and chemical characteristics, the choice of these materials should be carefully considered.

Usually they say that Marble is used indoors while granite outdoors (but it is not always true…)

Marble has a calcareous nature, not high hardness and it is easily polished and worked.

The presence of other substances gives origin to marble’s typical veins.

Granite, on the other hand, has a siliceous nature, is harder than Marble and it is more difficult to polished (even if it comes very well polished)
